NGO Capacity Building & Development

LEARNING THROUGH PRACTICE

At the heart of MAMA HOPE’s work is a comprehensive curriculum for NGO capacity building and organizational strengthening, developed through years of working alongside locally-led organisations. Our programs are built on a shared commitment between us and the organisations taking part.

The curriculum brings together the foundations that shape how an organisation leads, plans, operates, learns, communicates and resources its work. Rather than treating these areas in isolation, we connect them, so that strategy informs budgets, evidence strengthens communications, communications support fundraising, and stronger systems lead to better organizational decisions.

Learning is paired with implementation. Organisations work on their own strategies, systems and practices throughout the process, applying what they learn to the realities of their organisation and continuing to develop those foundations beyond the program.

TWO PATHWAYS
ONE APPROACH

FOR LOCALLY-LED ORGANISATIONS

Our nine-month Localization Development Accelerator (LDA) brings together structured learning, implementation, peer learning, mentorship and connection.
Organisations work across strategy, leadership, operations, finance, monitoring and learning, communications and fundraising—building practical systems and practices they can continue to use and adapt long after the program ends.

FOR FUNDERS

Funding makes important work possible. Investing in the organisation behind that work can make it stronger for the future.
We partner with funders to bring our organizational-strengthening curriculum to their grantees. We work with participating organisations to understand their priorities and adapt the learning to their context, while keeping practical implementation at the centre.

SIX AREAS OF LEARNING

Strengthen the personal and interpersonal skills needed to lead an organisation

Strengthen the foundation for where your organisation is going and why

Strengthen the operational structures, policies, and financial practices in place to run your organisation efficiently.

Develop practical ways to track progress, learn from your work, and use evidence to improve.

Create a clear organisational identity and communicate your work with confidence.

Build the knowledge and strategies needed to find, secure, and sustain funding.

BUILT THROUGH EVOLUTION

Our curriculum was developed by the MAMA HOPE team and continues to evolve through implementation.

What we learn alongside each cohort, within individual modules and from organisations applying the learning in practice informs how we strengthen the experience for those who come next.

This means the curriculum isn’t static.

It continues to respond to what locally-led organisations are experiencing, while maintaining a comprehensive approach to organizational strengthening.

INVEST IN LEARNING

Our curriculum is not static. It grows through what we learn from each cohort, feedback from partners, changes in the development landscape and the experience of our team as they design and facilitate each module. Your support enables MAMA HOPE to continue researching, testing, refining, innovating, and expanding the curriculum, so that the learning remains relevant, practical and responsive to the realities locally-led organisations are navigating.
