Nguzo means ‘pillar’ in Kiswahili, and the Nguzo Women and Youth Foundation exists to empower young women and men to become pillars in their families and in society. Founded by Aikande Robert and Mercy Mushi in Boma Ng’ombe, Tanzania, Nguzo strives to ensure Tanzania’s youth are equipped to live full and independent lives and contribute to building strong communities by conducting trainings on issues related to gender and sexual and reproductive health, distributing sanitary pads, and supporting skills development and networking.
