UGANDA COUNTRYSIDE • KENYA CITY & COUNTRY • COASTAL RETREAT
DAY 1: ARRIVE IN ENTEBBE, OVERNIGHT STAY IN KAMPALA
Day 2: Drive from Kampala to beautiful Budondo
This little slice of paradise is home of the Suubi Health Center. Arrive just in time for an epic Ugandan sunset, meet the Mukisa family, and enjoy an traditional home cooked meal.
Day 3: Site visits: Suubi Health Centre & Maternity Clinic
The Suubi Center provides life saving health services to 26,000 people. Meet the Suubi Doctors, Midwives, and Community Outreach Group who make this clinic possible – see patients, hear their stories and join in the centers activities. End the night back at the Mukisa’s where you learn to cook many Suubi staples.
Day 4: Site visits & adventure: Suubi Community Hall, Passionfruit Farm
& Sustainable projects
Witness the diversity of income generating projects that allow for the Suubi Centers Sustainability. Hear from the managers and get a glimpse at daily life running their businesses. End the night with a sunset hike and dancing in the moonlight.
Day 5: Bus to Kisumu Kenya, Hotel Checkin and Relaxation
Get a wide view of the countryside, reflect on the past two days of incredible experiences and travel across the Ugandan border into Kenya.
Day 6: Site Visit: OUR LADY OF PERPETUAL
SUPPORT Clinic & Children’s Rescue Center
Meet the incredible OLPS staff behind the MAMA HOPE projects, hear about their community’s challenges and see all the ways they are overcoming them. Enjoy dinner at the Children’s Rescue Center.
Day 7: Site Visit & adventure: Rita Rose Garden, Kisumu Food Market, & Lake Victoria
Take an early morning tour of a food security garden, and see first-hand the enormous role agriculture plays in Kenya’s economy. See the food sold at market as you visit the Rita Rose stalls. Travel to the most famous African Great Lake, take in lunch at a local fish market, meet the fisherman, and enjoy a hippo excursion.
Day 8: Site Visit: Obunga slum & Akili School Campus
Visit Obunga slum, the largest in Kisumu, and learn the origin of Akili school from founders David and Erick. Participate in some home visits, then travel to the Akili campus, meet the children, staff, and see the construction of their newest project a boarding home.
Day 9: Adventure Day: Masaai Market & Kisumu Nightlife
Spend the day testing your bargaining skills at the Masaai Market. Return to the U.S. with one-of-a-kind handcrafted gifts. Shop until you drop, then enjoy an authentic lunch and prepare for a night dancing at one of Kisumu’s popular music venues.
Day 10: Fly from Kisumu to Mombasa
Arrive in Kenya’s famous beach side city, Mombasa. This city’s location on the Indian Ocean makes it a popular travel destination as well as a historically important trading center. Explore the heritage sites, relax on the beach, or visit one of the many yoga retreat centers.
Day 10-13: Mombasa Fun!
Visit the Old Town, New Town, and North or South Coasts — maybe even a trip to a nearby island. Learn about styles of music native to Mombasa including the smooth and mellow Bango, fast-paced Chakacha and traditional Mwanzele.
Day 14: Fly from Mombasa to Nairobi; US departure
$4,000 USD per person for two weeks — all inclusive! Includes flight, transport, housing, meals, and surprise extras.
$1,000 donation to legacy impact project — this can be fundraised for or given.
